October 10 – Decisions 2015

At September’s meeting, we heard from several candidates running for the Seattle School Board including both candidates for the highly contested District 6; Leslie Harris and Marty McLaren who both received a rating of Very Good from the Municipal League. Needless to say, a lively discussion occurred. Join us this Saturday as we hear from more of the candidates who will be appearing on the ballot that arrives in your mailbox later this month.

This Saturday October 10th, we’ll hear from Assessor candidate and former Chief Deputy John Arthur Wilson (Assessor Lloyd Hara is also invited), Election Director candidates Julie Wise and State Rep. Zack Hudgins, Seattle School Board Position 3 contenders Lauren McGuire and Jill Geary, as well as our former convenor Bill Bradburd – now running for a city-wide Council spot.  Are our taxes being fairly assessed?  With King County not counting 2% of the ballots cast – twice the rate of Pierce and Snohomish – are we rejecting too many questionable ballots?  How do we address the achievement gap in our public schools?  Is it style versus substance on the campaign trail?  Hear the answers to these and other questions at the monthly SNC meeting.
